Sweet Memories of Marina

Obituary:

Marina Barigelli, 66, of Rochester, NY, passed peacefully in her home on January 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Marina’s faith and strong will to live, along with the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through a 5 year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marina was born in Frosinone, Italy on June 15, 1958. She moved to the United States in 1976. By 1984 she had completed college, married the love of her life, and become a mother. In 1992 she established Sweet Memories, a custom cakes and cookies business. Her cakes graced the tables of thousands of special events and her customers were treated as family. Marina was a dedicated mother, actively involved in her children’s lives and endeavors. She enjoyed volunteering and serving as Eucharistic minister and parish council member at St. Theodore Catholic Church, also reinvigorating the Theo’s Closet clothing ministry for those in need. Marina’s most cherished moments were spent with family and grandchildren, staying connected to her loved ones in Italy, and gathering with friends. She also loved long walks, cooking, reading, gardening, puzzles, and never missed an opportunity to sing or dance.

Marina will be remembered for her radiant spirit, boundless energy, and unending generosity as shown in her nurturing care for family, friends and community. She was a vibrant, bold, inspiring woman. The best wife, mom and nonna (aka “Noni”). We remember her with joy and celebrate her life and legacy.

Marina is preceded in death by her mother, Michele, and brother, Diego. She is survived by husband Ferdinando, daughter Tanya (husband Colin, children Peter and Georgia), daughter Vanessa and son Luca (wife Areya, child Amelia), father Armando, and sister Viviana (husband Fernando, children Loris, Manuel).

Marina’s celebration of life and memorial service will take place at 9:30am on Tuesday April 22, 2025 at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church at 168 Spencerport Road, Rochester, NY. Brunch gathering to follow.
